Wake up Happier....
I never used to be a morning person. Actually, I used to despise getting up early. I would be the person staying up til 1 or 2AM and sleeping in til 11AM-12PM. If you know me at all now, this may seem WAY OFF.
I have spent the last 5 years of my life getting up at 4:45AM and going to bed around 9PM (maybe not every single night, but this is my typical weekday and sometimes weekend bedtimes). If you are NOT a morning person, then waking up in the morning can be a struggle. Your morning probably consists of hitting the snooze button 6 times and drinking about 12 cups of coffee.
The only way to change this is by altering your actions. Why shouldn't you wake up with a smile on your face everyday and be ready to conquer the world?
These are things I learned over the last 5 years that have made getting up in the morning a FEEL GOOD thing, not a chore...
1) Give yourself time: Don't hit that snooze button 6 times (like we talked about above), and give yourself some time in the morning to just be zen before your busy day starts. Waking up and rushing out the door is the #1 way of starting off your day already stressed.
2) Skip the news & social Media: Don't wake up and instantly turn on the news or login to your social media. Chances are there are going to be things going on in the world that may put a damper on your day. Instead, you could read a couple pages from a book or turn on HGTV (nothing is negative on there.... unless you get stressed about home renos, then stick with the book)
3) EAT BREAKFAST: That's right. The perfect way to start off your day is to get some good nutrition into you to help you feel energized. If you find it too time consuming to cook breakfast, then a meal replacement shake is a great idea. That's what I do..... blend and chillax.
4) Play some happy tunes: I was just talking on my social media today about Justin Timberlake's "Can't stop the feeling" and how that song could make anyone happy! Playing a song with good vibes in the morning is a great way to start off your day on a brighter note (no pun intended ;) )
5) Water: Drink a big glass of water (even better if you squeeze some fresh lemon into it). Overnight your body tends to get dehydrated so getting a nice glass of water in the morning is a definite way to boost your energy.
6) Say 3 GREAT things about yourself: The most important one is to have a positive mental state. "I look great today", "I am proud of who I am", "I love the colour of my eyes"... whatever it is, say it! We tend to be so hard on ourselves and saying three GREAT things about yourself in the morning can be a major mood booster!
If you do these things everyday and get into a consistent action, then I KNOW you can be a happier soul in the morning.
Leave me a comment if this has helped you!
Much Love,
~Christy
